Defying Gravity and the Odds

I am completely "green" (ha, get it? Punny, eh) with envy in honor of Earth Day, of course. My sister won the lottery for fourth row Wicked seats yesterday. She was going to call me because she couldn't find her husband, and then he showed up (thanks a ton Mike!). I am not completely obsessed with Wicked, but close, and I would love to go to that show. Actually, I have sworn for the last 2-3 years that when it came I was going NO MATTER WHAT. But life happens and getting tickets didn't.
If you don't know what the lottery is: A day-of-performance ticket drawing for a limited number of seats is held daily. Each day, 2 hours prior to show time people who present themselves at the box office have their names placed in a drawing drum and then thirty minutes later, names are drawn for a limited number of seats at $25 each, cash only.
This is the second time Lis has won lottery tickets to Wicked (she got them before in San Fransico), but then she is also willing to go stand in line everyday with 400 other people. Hope you guys had fun! No Super Broadway Fan deserves it more than you!

"This is the life!"

It is Spring Break here and we have headed to the grandparents house, because vacations are more fun with Grandma and Grandpa, and aunts and uncles. The missionaries came to Easter dinner too, and about 3 minutes before they knocked on the door, K threw up all over the floor and her Easter dress. Nice, eh. So, we have been sick all vacation. I have a cold and Ty is throwing up too. Good news is whatever this is (flu, stomach virus, etc.), it doesn't last too long.
So, now that everyone is feeling a little better, we got out of the house and out of the rain, and off the Discovery Gateway.
We spent about five hours there yesterday!
Fun and learning all at the same time. We are multi-taskers!
So much fun, they got all worn out, kind of. I took this pic of them asleep in the car and noticed that Ty looked like he was smiling. I started to talk about how tricky Ty is to Grandma and he started giggling! He was totally faking! We went to McD's for lunch on Tuesday and C ran up from playing, sat down and put his head on my shoulder and said, "Mom, this is the life..." I have to agree.

Easter Festivities

We had a jam packed Easter weekend this year. Saturday morning we went to our city egg hunt. I will post pics later. Saturday afternoon a friend reminded me that I actually had to boil and dye eggs that day. Oops! I bought the eggs and dye. I had planned to do it that morning, I just spaced it. So, Saturday night we went to town coloring eggs. K thinks Easter eggs are balls; she likes to thrown them. C really got into decorating this year. He likes to plop the eggs into the dye and splash it all over. Ty helped for a while, then lost interest and left Mom and Dad to finish up. Typical.
Easter morning the kids dug into their baskets, loving the candy the most, but the cheap-o kites were a definite favorite. And the "Fly Guy" books!
Ty was just glad the Easter Bunny gave in and finally brought him some Pokemon cards. We don't let them watch these cartoons, but the kids play with the cards at school during lunch.
K got a singing teapot and was "sharing" it with everyone.
"Ball!"

Flower Power!

K has this bump out in her room, perfect for a window seat. So, T built one in before we painted. A few weeks ago, Grandma C made these adorable flower balls to hang in her room, and they totally complete the window seat.
Maybe someday I'll actually make a cushion for this bench....maybe.... Thanks Mom! They look beautiful. And yes, K has climbed up to try and pull them down. We knew she would!

Girlie Girl Hair

I am delving into uncharted territory and actually trying to do something with K's mullet. You would think that growing up in a house full of girls, I might know something about doing hair. But let's face facts, I'm a tomboy at heart (much to T's dismay), and hair and make-up have never really been my thing. I found some rather cute and informative sites on how to do baby girl hair. I swear, you really can find anything on the Internet. Her hair actually didn't turn out too bad for a first attempt, so of course I have to share. This is her running away from me while I try to take a picture. I know you've been there too.... C tried to help keep her still by making silly faces.
K joined in.....
TA DA! I know...you are all very impressed. Not perfect, but not too shabby for a first try.
Right after the pic, she immediately started rubbing her head into the couch. Little girls with just fixed hair are drawn to static-filled couches in the same way that gravity is an unchanging and irresistible force. By the time she wakes up from her nap her cute knots will be gone, but at least I have the pictures.

Bi-polar Mother Nature

I have often said that Mother Nature is a little bi-polar where we live. During the Fall we have beautiful Fall foilage, but it's 100 degrees outside. In the Winter, it freezing and grey, but won't snow for weeks at a time. And Spring....It's 60 and sunny one day and this the next. Mother Nature's attempt at an April Fool's joke. Later today I'm sure (wink, wink) that the sun will come and shout, "April Fool's!" T got me good this morning. I was thinking about the snow, not about April 1st. He sent me a text saying that he had just barely gotten to work (this was about 8:30 AM, he usually gets to work about 7 AM), because the right side of his truck had fallen apart (that should have tipped me off right there). My first thought was that he had been standing out in the cold and snow for an hour and a half. Then he said he wasn't sure what we were going to do, which, of course, made me really worried. So, I called him (emergencies shouldn't be handled through texting), and he strung me along a little and then told me it was April Fool's Day. Duh! Good one, Love.
